Gameloft Barcelona is currently seeking new talent to reinforce its creation teams.
The Barcelona-based development studio has consistently created high-quality, critically acclaimed games for mobile platforms and is now expanding.
User Interface Artist
Role and responsibilities
Working under the supervision of the Art Director and dedicated Lead UI Artist:
Responsible for creating art assets used in the creation of front end menu and user-interface environment for videogame products.
Will also conceptualise functionality and look of complete menu layout lineups (front end, in-game, web based when needed), following the direction established by the Lead UI artist.
Creates menu and UI designs that must either follow a pre-established Art Direction or may take a more active role in defining the project visual identity, depending on each title profile (licensed product, new IP, sequel).
Executes all necessary graphic assets required for building menu screens, UI and front end movie assets: button formatting, fonts support, graphic composition elements for interactive menus or in-game pause screens, icons, logos, illustrations.
Optimises menu and UI art resources to work around technical constraints, depending on target platform (screen resolution, color depth, memory).
Will have to adapt design and functionality of menu and UI layouts between various video-game platforms and/or maximise look and feel on a specific device (standard console controller based input, 3D screens, touch screens in handheld or tablet PC format, gesture based controls)
For particular products, will take part in quick prototyping assignments to demo control & interaction schemes or menu front-end layouts.
Requirements
2D Art experience in video game development.
Strong knowledge in end user interface development (for any platform).
Ability to define and optimise a full end-user interface flow experience, taking into account both artistic and ergonomic considerations.
Capable to adapt to existing art-direction or prototyping from zero.
Flexible in adapting existing concepts to changing requirements or new formats.
Knowledge in UI (and overall art) videogames standards.
Impeccable classic art/drawing skills (proportions, perspective, colours, light, composition).
Strong knowledge in using standard industry art packages such as Adobe Photoshop and Flash.
Major pluses
3D generalist knowledge and experience (with any program 3DS Max, Zbrush or Maya).
Proven experience in graphic design for TV or film.
Ability to very quickly prototype ideas (in full video, animated clips or still images) starting from a very basic indication or direction.
